Your First 100 One-Minute Videos Will Suck

Rising Talent — Your First 100 One-Minute Videos Will Suck

The key to not sucking at one-minute videos is practice. Turn on your phone. Turn on your camera. Whatever you have.

Get in front of the camera. Get comfortable in front of it. It is a skill. Dennis and I would both tell you — we were very uncomfortable at first when we started shooting video, especially of ourselves. I still do not always like how I sound on video. Doing it more and becoming more comfortable with it — practicing — that is all you have to do to become good at it.

So here is the challenge: make your first one-minute videos, because your first 100 videos are going to suck. You just need practice. There is going to be noise in the background. The camera is going to be shaking. You will not like your hair. You will not say things the right way.

And that is fine. You have a lot of takes you can do. Editing exists. What does not exist is a shortcut around hearing yourself on playback. You get past that by shooting again tomorrow.

This is not about becoming an influencer. This is about growing your brand so the people who already want to connect with you can hear your knowledge. Any speaker, author, coach, plumber, dentist, or mission-centered pro can do it. You need willingness — and reps.

Your first hundred are not content for the hall of fame. They are reps for your nervous system. You are teaching your body that the red button is safe.

Film one sixty-second video on your phone today. Publish it. Repeat until you hit one hundred.
